Georgia Housing Development Corporation (GaHDC) was incorporated on July 13, 2011. The company’s primary purpose is to educate members of the public about real estate investments and to provide affordable housing to low-income families.

The organization intends to acquire properties through property discount purchase and property donation programs, renovate the properties, and market the properties for rent and for sale to low-income families and individuals. The rehabbed homes will provide affordable housing to its occupants and also revitalize the community.  Additionally, GaHDC also seeks to consult and aid citizens who are experiencing difficulty in paying their mortgage and or rent.

Due to the past financial and housing crisis, many individuals are in need of affordable housing. Many families have been displaced as a result of job lose resulting in a foreclosure or eviction.  Current research shows that families who pay more than 30 percent of their income on housing are considered as burdened and have a hard time paying for food, transportation, and insurance.  Research shows that there is a large population of people who pay 50 percent or more of their income towards housing expenses. These are the families in which the GaHDC is trying to provide assistance.

In an effort to reduce the growing number of families who are experiencing financial hardships, Georgia Housing Development Corporation hopes to help bridge the financial gap by offering renovated, well-maintained, affordable housing to low-income families and individuals.  The organization seeks to acquire home sites in family friendly neighborhoods.  GaHDC was started in an effort to have a greater impact in the community and in the lives of fellow Americans who are on the verge of homelessness or displacement.
